Spring 2010 Issue
It’s Spring already!
The boats have already started to go back into the water; it’s lovely to see the marina springing back to life again with more and more berth holders stopping by for a visit.
So after the extreme winter we have endured, here’s hoping for a glorious summer. Fingers crossed!
Clubhouse
A few of you have been puzzled by our decision to review the licence for the Marina Clubhouse. We have no intentions to close this facility permanently and will resume the Club as soon as possible
If you know of any person who might be interested in running the club please send expressions of interest and business proposals to:
Steve Arber, Operations Director, Tingdene Marinas Ltd., Bradfield Road, Finedon Road Industrial Estate, Wellingborough, NN8 4HB
or direct e-mail to: steve@tingdene.net
Parking
PLEASE DO NOT PARK ON THE GRASS VERGE at the main entrance to the marina as the Lorries can’t pass the parked cars, May we suggest that you park your car on the Pub premises or bring your car to the car park first before going to the pub.
Car Stickers
We now have Racecourse Marina car stickers that we would ask that you display on your windscreen to help us identify who should and shouldn’t be parking in the marina. These are now available from the office for you to pick up at your convenience.
Further tariff freeze
We are delighted to extend this to our berth holders who currently pay monthly by direct debit who will also not see an increase in their mooring fees in 2010.
FREE HOISTING
For all annual berth holders you may take advantage of a FREE – one way hoist.
Conditions apply i.e
1. Annual payment must be made in advance of the due date or the direct debit must be set up before due date.
2. Offer has to be taken within the twelve month renewal period.
3. Offer has to be done on “Free craning” day. Other craning takes priority
4. Offer is subject to availability and Tingdene travel hoist capability.
Re-commissioning
As you are well aware, we have had a severe winter behind us and it has been so severe that our marina has been frozen over several inches thick for on and off six weeks. For the customers who decided not to winterize the engines and solely have relied on heaters are well advised that when they start their engine(s) have a thorough check in the engine room for leaking pipes engine etc.
Pollution
Once again, may we please remind our moorers not to empty bilges into the marina, apart from this being a hazard to our wild life, a cause of damage to boats and an unsightly mess which has to be cleared up, it is also an offence which carries a fine by the Environment Agency.
Safety of Children
Please don’t carry children in the luggage trolleys: it is dangerous, and one little slip could end in tragedy. Please ensure they wear lifejackets or buoyancy aids at all times, and make sure they do not stay on the pontoon unsupervised.
Insurance
Recent guidelines suggest that third-party liability cover for boat owners is held at a minimum value of £3 million, as part of a fully comprehensive policy. You may well find that your policy already includes third-party cover to this level, but if not, we would advise the increase in cover, should you bring in a contractor to do any work on your boat than you will need to inform the contractor, that before he commences the work he reports into the office to sign-in and produce a copy of liability insurance with again a minimum value of £5 million.
Boat Insurance
You may be considering changing boat insurance for your boat for the coming season, and if you are not already insured with Haven Knox-Johnston they will offer a 10% reduction in premium if you are moored within a Tingdene Marina.
We have also negotiated a further 5% discount with Haven Knox-Johnston for all Tingdene Marinas Loyalty card holders. If you would like a quote for insuring your boat please contact H.K-J on 01732 223600.
Marina Maintenance
You help us with the task of making the Marina better by informing a member of marina staff if you have noticed any item such as pontoon, fingers etc., needing repair or attention. Thank you. We have also begun to cut back the overhanging branches in the Millstream which will make the navigating of this section easier. It will take a little while but should be ready for the coming season.
Main Gate Security
Please be aware that NO ONE should be let into the marina without a card, and please make sure that when you drive through the gate no one follows you. In case someone still enters and you don’t know who they are, please don’t confront them, but take their car number plate so that we can investigate the matter further if necessary. Thank you.
