Annual Mooring Tariff 2010

We are pleased to announce that we are freezing our annual mooring tariff again for 2010. This tariff is already the cheaper ‘Discount rate’. If you are currently not on the annual in advance tariff, and you would like to save money by paying in advance and reserving your berth for a full year, please contact the marina office on (01299) 827082   or stourportmarina@tingdene.net

Please note that you may switch to the annual in advance tariff at any time, if you are currently paying by monthly direct debit, or on a monthly seasonal berth, you do not have to wait until your current contract expires. We will simply suspend your current contract, without penalty, and you can then take advantage of the “frozen” annual in advance rate.

We hope that this will help all our customers in the current economic climate, and we thank you for your continued business. Full details of all tariffs are available in the Marina office.

Marina Main Gates

Please be aware that in the near future the Marina Gates will be automated and access will be available by means of a Key code pad outside the entrance. The code will be the same as the internal gates.

Gate codes

The new summer gate code cards are available from the Marina office, as mentioned in the last news letter if you would like to receive the codes by text message to your mobile then please inform a member of staff who will arrange this for you.

Mooring Licences

It is very important for us to have a current mooring contract for each moorer. If you receive one, please fill it in, sign it and return it as soon as possible. Please also note on the Licence the name of your boat insurance company.

Shortly we will be sending out new mooring contracts for the 2010 season can you please fill it in and return it to the marina office.

To take advantage of the preferential monthly by Direct Debit mooring rate, please be aware that it is payable only by Direct Debit.

We would also appreciate it if you would keep the office informed as to any changes in your contact details, especially mobile numbers, just in case we need to contact you in the event of an emergency.

Newsletter

If you would like to receive this newsletter by email in the future, please email stourportmarina@tingdene.net and we can arrange that for you.

VHF Radio Course

Aubrey Wallis will be conducting a VHF Radio course on Saturday 7th March 2010. Please contact Graham Woolfenden on 01299 824937 or mobile 07531 388014.

Recycling

It is very difficult not to be aware of all the incredibly important environmental issues that face us all each day. We can all make small

changes that would have a big impact. One simple way that

everyone can get involved is recycling.

Here at the marina, we have designated bins for that purpose and ask each of you to take the time to separate your waste and place it in the correct container. Also please be aware of what you are putting in the “general” waste bin as lot of the waste produced from working on your boats, ie., paint, rollers, paint trays, rags etc are not considered general waste and must be disposed of separately.

It goes with out saying, that the bins here at the marina are for only waste you produce whilst on your boat and not an overflow for any extra “household” waste from outside.

Solid Fuel Heating

Please may we ask all boaters with solid fuel fires to consider others, and only use Smokeless Fuel?

Site Clearance

As you may be aware we are working hard to improve the surroundings of the marina, in recent months the old shed and porta cabin have been removed from the bottom yard, and the trees and rubbish from the BBQ area at the bottom of the runway have been removed. The BBQ area will be reinstated as soon as the weather will let us complete this task.

Can we please ask for your cooperation by not leaving rubbish or unwanted articles around the Marina grounds?

Planks from the bank to pontoons

Can we ask all berth holders not to put planks from the bank to the pontoons as not only are they a breach of security they also raise health and safety issues.

Any plankswill be removed and disposed of by marina staff.

Thank you for your cooperation in this mater.

Taps on pontoons

Can we please ask you to make sure all taps on the     pontoons are turned off when not in use.

Toilet/Shower access

The toilets in the clubhouse are now available out of hours by use of the code key pad mounted adjacent to the main door, the code is the same as the

Gate code. The door will lock automatically as the door closes.

To exit press the release button to the right of the door.

Weil’s Disease

All staff and users should be aware of the danger of contracting Weil’s disease (Leptospirosis). This is a rare but potentially fatal waterborne disease that attacks the liver, kidneys, and brain, causes paralysis, and can cause death. The infecting bacteria are carried in the urine of cattle, dogs and rats, and can be active in water for some time. It enters the nervous system through the skin, especially cuts and grazes, or via the mouth. The symptoms are similar to influenza – shivering, aches and pains, headaches, running nose.

Those in contact with the water should wear gloves or protective clothing, or ensure that any exposed skin is washed thoroughly after contact. Cuts and abrasions should be protected with waterproof plasters.

If you are suffering the symptoms of Weil’s Disease, your Doctor or other medical staff should be made aware of your working environment, and regular contact with stagnant water, and asked immediately to prescribe antibiotics.

Working on boats

Please may we ask if you intend to work on your boat to please consider your neighbours? If in doubt, please speak to a member of the marina staff.

Recommisioning

After such a hard winter with ice on the marina of up to 5” my we suggest that if you did not winterize your boat, when starting the engine check for any leaks from raw water cooling system!

Satellite Television

Tingdene marinas are pleased to announce that Travelsat will give Tingdene loyalty card holders discount on the supply and fitting of satellite systems.

For further information contact Martyn on
